வெகு நாட்கள் கழித்து மனதை உருக்கிய சிறுகதை. இவ்வாறும் இயல்பாக அனைத்து உணர்ச்சிகளும் அடங்கிய கதையை எழுதமுடியும் என்று நிரூபித்திருக்கிறார்.

Yet another superb story from the Legend himself ! The narrator indeed gave life to the entire story, especially the pronunciations, expressions, and emotions for Joseph character ! A must read 💪

நல்ல சிறுகதை தொகுப்பு முதல் கதையில் முதலியாரின் பயமும், இரண்டாம் கதையில் வைரவனின் விரக்தியும் மிகவும் சிறப்பாக இருந்தது. இருப்பினும் கதைக்களம் புதிது கிடையாது. இது வெளிவந்த காலத்தில் புதிதாக இருந்திருக்கலாமோ என்னவோ!

யாருக்காக Azhuthan? When the Author was in Leftist Group, he wrote these stories . A lot of justification for each and every incident in the stories. This is the responsibility of the reader to accept it or not. A lot of worthy to read.

How the world treats an innocent person is explained in one part and how an acting good person feels bad at heart, how a rude person behave good at heart is portrayed well in second part. One book with stories.

யாருக்காக அழுதான்- ஒட்டு மொத்த கதையின் நோக்கமும் இறுதியில் விளக்கப்படுகிறது. இதில் சொல்லப்பட்ட இரு கதைகளும், சுயநலமில்லா இரு மனிதர்களை பற்றியும், அவ்வாறு வாழும் உள்ளங்கள், இந்த சுயநலமிகுந்த உலகில் படும் இன்னல்களை பற்றியும் பேசுகிறது. இந்த சிறு நூலானது, எனக்கு மிகுந்த அல்லது ஏகோபித்த சுவாரஸ்யத்தை தராதபோதில��ம், ஓரளவுக்கு சுவாரஸ்யம் கொண்டதாகவும், சில நற்கருத்துகளை ஆங்காங்கே உரையாடல்கள் முலம் இயல்பாக போதிக்கிறது. இக்கதையில் வாழும் சில மனிதர்கள், இந்த இரு சுயநலமில்லா மனிதர்களாக இல்லையெனினும், அவர்கள் அம்மனிதர்களை பேணிகாக்கவும் போற்றவும் முட்படுகிறார்கள் என்பது நம்முலகிளும் இவ்வாறு மனிதர்களும் வாழ்கிறார்கள் என்பதற்கு அத்தாய்ச்சியாகிறது.

ஜெயகாந்தனின் எழுத்துக்கள் பிரமிக்க வைக்கும் என்பார்கள் அது உண்மைதான். நான் இந்த புத்தகத்தினை 2020 ல் வாங்கினேன் ஆனால் முதல் சில பக்கங்கள் வாசித்து விட்டு ஓரம்கட்டிவைத்துவிட்டேன். ஏனோ இன்று என் கண்ணில் பட்டது உடனே வாசித்துவிட்டேன் அதுவும் ஒரே நாளில். வாசித்து முடித்த இறுதிக்கணத்தில் அவனும் அழுகிறான் கூடவே நானும் அழுதேன் இதுதான் உண்மை. வாருங்கள் கதைக்குள் செல்வோம். அந்த ஊரின் ரயில்வே நிலையம் அருகில் வெறும் நான்கு அறைகள் கொண்ட ஒரு விடுதி இருக்கிறது. அது முதலியாருக்குச் சொந்தமானது அங்கு வரும் வாடிக்கையாளர்களை கவருவதற்காகவே மலிவு விலையில் உணவு வழங்கப்பட்டுவருகிறது . இந்த கதை ஒரு நாள் இரவில் ஆரம்பித்து மறுநாள் மாலையில் முடிகிறது. எத்தனை கனமான இதயம் கொண்ட மனிதர்கள் வந்து செல்கிறார்கள். கதை இருவருக்கும் இடையே ஏற்படும் உரையாடல்களைக் கொண்டு பாதி முடிந்துவிடுகிறது. மறுநாள் விடுதி விடுமுறை என்பதால் பெரும்பாலான வேலைக்காரர்கள் அன்று இரவு இரண்டாம் ஆட்டம் சினிமா பார்க்கச் சீவி சிங்காரித்துக் கொண்டு கிளம்பிவிடுகிறார்கள். ஆனால் கோவிந்தசாமி நாயுடுவும், சோசப்பு மட்டும் போகவில்லை. அவர்களை ஆச்சரியமாகப் பார்த்த முதலியார் நாயுடுவிடம் கேட்கிறார் ஏன் நீ மட்டும் போகவில்லை என்று அது அவர் மறுநாள் அவருடைய குடும்பத்தைப் பார்க்கக் கிராமம் செல்லவேண்டி இருப்பதால் சினிமாவின் மீது ஆர்வம் இல்லை என்கிறார் ஆனால் இது எதையும் பொருட்படுத்தாமல் சோசப்பு தனது வேலையில் அந்த நேரத்திலும் மேசை எல்லாத்தியும் சுத்தம் செய்துகொண்டிருக்கிறேன். எப்போதும் அமைதியாகவே இருக்கும் சோசப்பு அன்று மூன்று குரங்குகள் சேர்ந்து இருக்கும் ஒரு குரங்கு பொம்மை கையில் வைத்துக்கொண்டு தூங்கப்போனான். அவனருகில் தூங்க வந்த கோவிந்தசாமி நாயுடு, சோசப்பிடம் கேட்கிறார், ஏன்டா நீ எப்போதுமே கவலையே இல்லாமல் இருக்கிறாயா, எப்படிடா என்றார். அவனின் சுபாவம் அவன் யாருக்கும் தீங்கு செய்யமாட்டான், அதுபோலவே அவன் எப்போதும் உற்சாகமாகவும், சுறுசுறுப்புடன் வேலை செய்துகொண்டே இருப்பான். அவன் தனது மனதில் பூட்டி வைத்திருக்கும் பல்வேறு ரகசியங்களை மனம் திறந்து சொல்கிறான். அவன் முருகேசனிலிருந்து எப்படி சோசப்பானான் பிறகு அவனது மனைவி, அவனின் நண்பன் தனது மனைவியின் கணவனானது எனத் தனது முகத்துக்குள் மறைத்து வைத்திருந்த சோகங்கள் அணைத்துக் கொட்டித்தீர்த்தான் அத்தனையும் கேட்ட கோவிந்தசாமி நீ சாதார மனிதன் இல்லடா நீ உண்மையாகவே ஆண்டவன் தான் என்று மனமுருகிச் சொல்கிறார். அவனுக்கு அழுகையே தெரியாது, அழித்ததும் கிடையாது. ஆனால் அன்று இரவு ஒரு ஆள் முழு போதையுடன் ரூமிற்கு வருகிறான், அவன் போதையில் தனது பரிசை தவறிவிடுகிறான். அந்த பரிசை எடுத்துக்கொடுத்த சோசப்பிடம் காலையில் மறக்காத கொடுடா என்று சொல்கிறான் ஆனால் அவன் அப்போதே முதலியாரிடம் கொடுத்துவிடுகிறேன். மறுநாள் காலையில், எழுந்த அவன் தனது பர்ஸை காணோம் என்றும் எங்கோயோ குடிபோதையில் தவற விட்டுவிட்டோனோ என்று கேட்கிறான். அவன் நேற்றிரவு தவறவிட்டதை மறந்துபோனான் என்று நினைத்துக் கொண்ட முதலியார் அந்த பர்ஸை மறைத்துவைத்துவிடுகிறார். அவன் சந்தேகமெல்லாம் சோசப்பின் மேல் தான், இதனால் சோசப்பு பெரும் சோதனைக்கும் உள்ளாகிறான், அடிக்கிறார்கள் ஆனாலும் அவன் எதுவும் பேசாமல் மௌனமாகவே இருக்கிறான். முதலாளி முதலியார் தந்து தேவைக்குப் பணம் வேண்டுமென்று இருந்ததால் அந்த பர்ஸை மறைத்துவைத்து விடுகிறான். இறுதியில் ஒரு பெரும் நாடகத்திற்குப் பிறகு மாலை ஊருக்குப் போன கோவிந்தசாமி திரும்பி வருகிறான். சம்பவத்தைத் தெரிந்துகொண்ட அவன்,சோசப்பு ஒரு தெய்வமடா அவனையா திருடன் என்று சொல்கிறீர்கள் என்று ஆவேசமடைந்த தருணத்தில் முதலியார் எப்படியோ பர்ஸை கொண்டு அவனது அறையில் வைத்துவிடுகிறார். இறுதியில் அவனது பர்ஸை கண்டவன், சோசப்பிடம் மன்னிப்பு கேட்கிறான் ஆனால் அவன் அப்போதும் மௌனமே சாதிக்கிறான். அதுவரையில் அழவே தெரியாதவன், தனது முழு பலம் கொன்டு வாய்விட்டுக் கதறி அழுகிறான். அன்புடன், தேவேந்திரன் ராமையன்

One of the best novels of JK. Of these 'Enakaga Azhu' is a forgotten and not widely known novel. Fortunately this has not been filmed. It would have faced the same fate of Yarukkaga Azhudhan. Enakaga Azhu is a real classic. Excellent portrayal of who is good and who is bad. The so called bad person in this novel would save the so called good person. An another work of JK where human mind and thoughts are exposed in a different way. Whenever I am down, this is one of my favourites.

A short novella and a quick read, and wonderful listening this through audio book.Joseph who works in a hotel - a kind hearted innocent man who calls everyone andavare is one of a kind.. No shades of wrong or evil in him.. Everyone teases him as thirutu muzhi, probably the reason why everyone thinks him as guilty in the second half of the story..Joseph 's flashback which he narrates to his fellow companion an old cook who works with him was such a delight to hear, sometimes we don't really come know that such character exists in this world( especially in this virtual world where we believe everything as per social media)He never cries or laughs - he just feel for it but does not show that emotions.. In the second part he was accused of stealing of guest wallet, how everyone treats him, who was the real culprit, how he is being thrashed by everyone and at last the cook comes and thrashes verbally everyone for their behaviour..At the end of the story, he starts crying and no one knows the real reason but they are sure of one thing, that he is not crying for the beatings he got..I really wonder how can a person be like this, and as per the cook words to reiterate " don't judge the book by its cover".. We take for granted that being innocent is being a fool and being an intelligent is always great..It is always important to consider a man's behaviour from both your mind and soul, and not just by one of them..Such a lovely read at short notice and it made my day by just throwing some important life lessons..

- Book 14 of 2022- யாருக்காக அழுதான் Author- ஜெயகாந்தன் “பகைவனுக்கருள்வாய் நன்னெஞ்சே”-பாரதியார் ஜோசப்! அன்பின் உருவம் தான் ஜோசப்! எல்லாருக்கும் எல்லாவற்றிலும் அன்பையும் அன்பின் பரிமாணத்தை மட்டுமே காணும் ஓர் பிறவி. நிஜத்திலும் நம்மோடு நிச்சயமாக இப்படி பலர் இருப்பார்கள். இதில் வரும் முருகேசன் என்கிற ஜோசப் தன் மனைவியின் விருப்பத்தை புரிந்து கொண்டு அவளுக்கு ஏற்படுகிற காதலை மதித்து அந்த காதலுக்குரியவனோடு ஒரு கணவனே மிகவும் இயல்பான, விசாலமாக, பேரன்போடான மனநிலையில் திருமணம் செய்து வைக்கிற சம்பவம் அரங்கேறும். ஜெயகாந்தன் கதையல்லவா இது! இத்தனை அறமும் அன்பும் நிறைந்த அந்த உள்ளத்தின் மீது அவன் பணி புரியும் இடத்தில் பெரும் கலங்கம் ஏற்படுகிறது. யாரோ செய்யும் தவறுக்கு ஜோசப் மீது பழி விழுகிறது. அதன் பின் அவனுக்கு என்ன ஆயிற்று என்பது தான் கதை. “இன்னா செய்தாரை ஒறுத்தல் அவர் நாண நன்னயம் செய்து விடல்”- இக்குறலின் பொருள் தான் இக்கதையின் சுருக்கம். ஜெயகாந்தனின் கதாபாத்திரம் மற்றும் அவர் கதை படித்து முடித்த பின் வரும் மனநிலையிலிருந்து மீள்வது எத்தனை கடினம் என்பது அவரது கதைகளை படித்தவர்களுக்கு மட்டுமே தெரியும். இறுதி பக்கத்தில் எழுதிருக்கும் ஜோசப்பின் அழுகை ஒலி வடிவமாக ஆழ் மனதில் அப்படியே நிற்கிறது. இது திரைப்படமாகவும் எடுக்கப்பட்டு அதில் நாகேஷ் நடித்திருக்கிறார் என்று அம்மா சொன்னதும் இன்னும் கதையின் பாரம் சூழ்ந்து கொள்கிறது. வெகு நாட்கள் கழித்து மனதை பதைத்த புத்தகம் இது. “தமிழ் ஜீவிக்கட்டும்” என நம்பி எழுதிய ஜெயகாந்தனால் நிச்சயம் தமிழ் ஜீவித்துக்கொண்டு தான் இருக்கிறது. #tamizhkirukki #tamilbooks #tamilbookstagram#tamilbooklovers #tamilbook #tamilbookstore #tamilbookreaders #tamilbooksreview #tamilbooks #tamilbookstagrammer #tamilmeme #bookstagram #bookpage #tamilbookreviewer #vaasippainesippom #jayakanthan #jayakanthannovels

இரண்டு சிறுகதைகள் ஜெயகாந்தனின் இரண்டு சிறுகதைகளை கொண்டுள்ளது. எழுத்தாளரின் வழக்கமான நடையில் சிறப்பாக உள்ளது. கதையின் வேகத்தில் அவசர அவசரமாக படித்தாலும் மெல்ல அசைபோடும் மாடுபோல் மனது பலமுறை கதையினை அசைபோட்டு அழுத காரணத்தை பலவிதமாக கற்பிக்கிறது. கட்டாயம் படிக்க வேண்டிய கதை.

Yaarukkaga Azhuthan by Jayakanthan (first published in 1962) Roughly translates to "For whom did he cry?" This book consists of two short stories with philosophical themes. The first story focuses on Joseph, who works at a hotel, the Mudaliar who owns it, and a Saith who is a customer. The second story, "Enakkaga Azhu" (Cry for me), revolves around Kanagasabai, who works in a Chettiar’s shop, and his friend Vairavan, a petty thief. Both stories are short, fast-paced, and have engaging narratives, but the characterization and the backdrop/actions of the key players differ quite a bit between them. What worked for me 1. Interesting themes and characterization The protagonist of the first story, Joseph, is a Hindu convert who has migrated from a village and holds unconventional beliefs. His views challenge social conventions and touch upon topics that are still considered taboo even today. Even characters with a brief time in the story like a woman customer at the hotel felt thoughtfully written. The ideological leanings are clearly left-oriented, and the way philosophy is mixed into the narrative felt very different from most fiction I’ve read. 2. Subtle handling of a hyper-realistic philosophical idea The overarching theme revolves around philosophy and the idea of innate goodness in people which something that can feel unrealistic or hard to believe. However, Jayakanthan weaves this into the story convincingly. Despite the short length, everything blends together naturally. The variations between the two stories are both subtle and contrasting. While the core idea shifts slightly, the way characters influence the narrative differs a lot. In the first story, almost every character leaves an impact, and when the central idea unfolds, the change is very subtle. In the second story, only two characters drive most of the impact, and when the key moment arrives, it’s quite surprising. What didn't work for me - this was my second Tamil book and I found the colloquial language slightly difficult to grasp.

“தீயாரைக் காண்பதுவும் தீது: திருவற்ற தீயார் சொல் கேட்பதுவும் தீது: தீயார் குணங்கள் உரைப்பது தீது: அவரோடு இணங்கி இருப்பதுவும் தீது!” தீயார் குணங்கள் உரைப்பதுவும்ட தீது’ மேற்கண்ட எதுவும் தன்னை பாதிக்காத மனிதனாக இருப்பவன் ஜோசப் அவன் படித்தவனில்லை, யாரும் எதுவும் அவனுக்கு சொல்லி தரவில்லை இயல்பிலேயே அப்பழுக்கற்ற கள்ள கபடமில்லாத, நேர்மையான மனிதனாக இருக்கிறான் அதனாலேயே ஏமாளியாக பார்க்க படுகிறான் ஏமாற்ற படுகிறான். அவன் யாருக்காகவும் அழுததில்லை அவனுக்கு அழுக தெரியாது என்பதல்ல காரணம் அழுவதற்கு எந்த காரணமும் அவனுக்கு வந்ததில்லை எவ்வளவு பெரிய துக்கத்தையும் உலகின் இயல்பாக பார்க்கும் மனநிலை இயல்பிலேயே அவனுக்கு வாய்த்திருந்தது. தங்கும் விடுதியில் வேலைப்பார்க்கும் ஜோசப்பின் முதலாளி தன் சுயநலத்திற்காக வாடிக்கையாளர் ஒருவரின் பர்சை திருடிக்கொள்ள திருட்டு பழி ஜோசப்பின் மீது விழுகிறது. அவன் திருடனல்ல என்பது அந்த முதலாளிக்கும், அங்கு வேலைப்பார்க்கும் நாயுடுவிற்கும், அங்கே தங்கியிருக்கும் பெண்ணிற்கும், நாவலை படிக்கும் நமக்கும் தெரிகிறது. அதை திருடியது தன் முதலாளிதான் என்பது ஜோசப்பிற்கு தெரியும் இருப்பினும் அதை வெளியில் சொல்லாமல் அமைதி காக்கிறான் இறுதியில் அவன் குற்றமற்றவன் என்பது நிருபனமாகிறது இதுவரை அழாத ஜோசப் கதறி அழுகிறான் அவன் யாருக்காக அழுதான் என்ற கேள்வியில் நாவலை முடிக்கிறார் ஜெயகாந்தன். மனதில் நேர்மறையான தாக்கத்தை ஏற்படுத்தும் அழகான குறுநாவல்.

யாருக்காக அழுதான், எனக்காக அழு என இரண்டு சிறுகதைகள். இரண்டு கதைகளும் பணத்தின் மீது ஏற்பட்ட சபலத்தின் விளைவாக நாணயம் கெடுதல் என்ற மையக்கருத்தைக் கொண்டு எழுதப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.

While reading ,I actually thought that Yaarukaga Azhudhan can be adapted into a movie. Wikipedia says that indeed such a movie was made starring Nagesh. My dad says the movie bombed at the BO. For all his writing skills, it seems Jayakanthan struggled with the art of Cinema.

This novella by Jayakanthan is a good read - not because of a great story, but because of a character that is all white without shades of gray. Joseph works in a hotel as a staff. Noone knows his past, just that he is a devout person who goes around calling everyone Andavare (God), and buys figurines and keeps it in the rooms in the hotels. The mudaliar who runs the hotel is in a financial spot of bother. Over one night, Joseph tells his story from the village to the cook. When you hear his story you feel for him - the unnatural human kindness. The second part of the book happens the same night and the next day when a drunk guest loses his purse and suspects Joseph. To show the purity of the character - the book shows the gray sides of most other characters. People who meet, knows his purity - hold him in reverence. This is a good quick read of potential.

1960 களில் எழுதப்பட்ட இரண்டு கதைகள் கொண்ட குறுநாவல் இது. 100 பக்கங்களுக்கு சற்று அதிகமாக இருக்கலாம். கிட்டத்தட்ட 60 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு பிறகும் வாசிக்க, கதை ஓட்டத்தை தொடர இயலும் எளிய நடை. பணம், பேராசை, பழி, குற்றவுணர்ச்சி,தீங்குநினையா நல்லுள்ளம் இவ்வுணர்ச்சிகளை கொண்டு பின்னப்பட்ட கலை இந்த கதைகள். 1. யாருக்காக அழுதான். 2 . எனக்காக அழு. ஜெ கே யின் பிற கதைகளின் சினிமா வடிவத்தை கண்டு வாசிப்பனுபக்தை இழப்பதே என் வழக்கம்.. இம்முறை அதை செய்யாமலிருப்பதே சிறப்பு. கிண்டல் லிங்க் கீழே

எத்தனைப்பேர் எத்தனைத்தினுசா புதுசுபுதுசா எழுதினாலும், நச்சென்று நூறே பக்கத்தில் நெஞ்சத்தை அள்ளிக்கொள்வதில் ஜேகேவுக்கு நிகர் ஜேகே மட்டும்தான். :)
