Very Average novel, based on Robert clive's victory in Tamil Soil. first 100 pages was very boring and hard to finish. skip it.

Though it does have an interesting plot, it fails in the language. Too much of words that are foreign to Tamil are wantonly introduced. This criticism is a subjective one, since I personally don't like it. Defnitely 'not' one of those unputdownables.

27th edition of this book …author’s research brought many facts thru this novel. The heavy infighting within us in the name of religion but actually selfishness made our country a slave to the merchants of England . I am not finding any difference between 1750s and 2020s…The same infighting in the name of religion , language ,culture an invisible force has already piercing in .The current generations may escape but down the line the future generations will suffer. We are famous for not learning anything from previous mistakes ,,, God save this country ….

I wouldn’t have rated this book if it wasn’t for the historical context and references. Usually I like this author’s skills in writing the history along with his fantasy and imaginative style and fictional characters. This book has more references and truly adds depth and value. The fate of a man from his deeds is well implied through this story. But that’s the only thing I would say on the positive note. Whenever an author writes a book, he feeds the reader with his thoughts, ideologies and other believes/information with or without his knowledge. So an author has to be careful about what he writes. In this particular book, it sounds as if the author is trying to impose Sanskrit and Hinduism. I can accept the fact that early rulers could have conquered places through wars and then spread their religion. Obviously, rulers expand their policies boundaries through power for ego and for an establishment of the name/dynasty which is purely an individual’s thought and action. With that in the past, one can’t say everyone was so religious and thrived to establish their religions. The author himself speaks of Hindu Muslim conflicts. If they were fighting for the sake of religions, how would each of them team up with another religion. It is absurd. The author is imposing Hinduism and religious diversity unnecessarily. Above all, too many English conversation pieces and that too from French soldiers were almost impossible to understand. There were too many printing mistakes. First, Tanjore king is addressed as Pratab Singh, then Prataba Simman, then Prataba Simha. One Tanjore king itself is with three different names. I don’t know if that was intentional to avoid Singh or it’s a printing mistake too.
