Nice book to read. I completed within two days of reading. Very interesting and an eye opener for someone who is into politics.

வனவாசம் - அமணம். மிக வெளிப்படையான சுயசரிதம். அரசியல், கலை, மொழி தாண்டி மனிதனின் சுயத்தை போட்டு உடைத்துள்ளார்.

If you want to know truth about tamilnadu Political leader between 1950-1980, this was the best choice.

Nice book to read. Essay while leaving the party and some other Essay in this books are so nice. Really amazing lines and he played with tamil words. I love to read this.

More than his film career, vanavasam speaks about his political life, specifically the rise of DMK party. All you adimer are not your heroes, these statements was strongly conveyed through his narrative.

Kannadasan writes his biography. It deals more with his political life rather than his literature life. He justifies the title of the book in the index itself. It gives a experience of pleasant reading.

This book portrayed the root of DMK very well. First few chapters author talks about himself. It might be eyeopener about how tamilnadu politics done in Mr. Annadurai Era. This is totally authors perspective, may be biased. Truths were not revealed exactly, just tipped the iceberg, then he moves on the other incident.

கண்ணதாசன் - ஒரு ஆகச்சிறந்த ஆளுமை தன்னைத்தானே தோலுரித்த சுயசரிதை. பொதுவாக சுயசரிதைகளில், தன்னைப் பற்றிய இருண்ட பக்கங்களை தவிர்க்க முயல்வார்கள் - விதிவிலக்குகள் சில. கண்ணதாசன் அவர்கள் பொதுமகளிர் வீட்டிற்கு சென்றது, மதுவால் பணத்தை இழந்தது, பொறுப்பில்லாமல் சுற்றித் திரிந்தது , என பலர் பேச தயங்கும் விஷயங்களை பற்றி தைரியமாகப் பேசுகிறார். அரசியல் கட்சியில் இணைந்தது, அண்ணா மற்றும் கருணாநிதி மீது இருந்த பிணக்கு, கட்சியில் ஓரங்கட்டப்படும் அரசியல், கடைசியாக தெளிந்த மனிதனாக அரசியலிலிருந்து விடைபெற்றது என விவரிக்கும் இப்புத்தகம் ஒரு படிப்பினை என்றே சொல்லலாம்.

கடலில் நீந்தியது போல் ஒரு உணர்வு..அதுவும் கவிதை கடலில்...!!! எதோ காலக் கண்ணாடியில் பின்னோக்கி பயணித்து , அப்போது இருந்த நாட்களை கண்டு கழித்தது போல் இருந்தது. இந்நூலில் இவருடைய அரசியல் வாழ்க்கை பெரிதும் சொல்லப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. மேலும் அவரது "தென்றல்" இதழில் அவர் வெளியிட்ட சில முக்கிய தலையங்கங்கள் இங்கு இடம் பெற்றுள்ளது. மொத்தத்தில் கண்ணதாசன் எப்படி சுற்றத்தாரால் தன் வாழ்க்கையை இழந்து எழுகிறார் என்பதே முக்கிய வரைவு. அனால் அதில் மொத்த தமிழக மக்களின் வாழ்வியல் படமாக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. நமக்கு பெரிதும் தெரியாத, அனால் மிகவும் முக்கியமான அரசியல் இதில் பேசப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.

1.Indeed a deep read. Author Kannadasan Penned down his thoughts in a regretted state . His several personal life experiences are missing. 2.He apparently accepted he was a womanizer and Non financial planner and guiding readers to not follow him in such way. 3. He boldly spoke the Dravidian conspiracy theory against Anna durai and Karunanidhi. Shedding light on readers how Dravidian principle fluctuated on its shape for gaining mass public by propagating Aryan Theory, Brahmin hatism, Self respect. 4. At the end Author boldly summarized his decade long bitter experience with DMK as 'Vanavaasam ' and how today Tamil Nadu politics paved it's way from Hypocritical politics.overall It's his Personal Experience with Politics. And Who am I judge to others ?

Kannadasan life history between 1943 to 1961, it's more.of DMK's growth as a party that has been depicted in this book. The interesting word and poems play between the leaders of the party, through the dailies they run, is very interesting and like drenching in honey called Tamil.. The first few pages tells you the struggles of the person who comes out of the family in search of a living. Kannadasan also mentions at one end he was losing money through many unwanted habits however at other end he started to earn money through writing in Cinema.. He doesn't shy away from mentioning his so called.habits which lead to his destruction and loss of money.. He had this booked named it as Vanavasam as he was stuck in politics during that period, which he couldn't understand or fit for.to be there.. The only drawback for me is it goes into so much detailing of party members and their day to day to activities, which was a bit boring and repititive part( probably after reading a few books on political leaders or politics, i can come out of this aversion)

This is my first kannadasan book as well as first autobiography book. I have heard lot of the kavignar even heard his songs but never read his books. Before starting to read I thought he will be explaining all his life events. But on reading forward I understood that it was more about his political life rather than personal one. How his life started to mould and how politics suffered him. So it is not full auto biography but a part from his life. To publish a embarrassing mistakes among the masses needs real guts. Kudos to author for that. Kaviarasar has shown the dark sides of highly celebrated leaders like Annadurai,karunanidhi. It proves that they are human too not saviours or magicians. This books gives people inside the politics. How DMK party changes/deviates from its motto as they still do. Due to some unknown reason the author couldn't write few incidents or names. It was explicitly written by the author but still the transparency of his life is admirable. In the end nobody is perfect every human has good and dark sides. And every human goes through various emotional phases. Hats off to your guts again for writing openly.

கவிஞர் என்றாலே நம் நினைவுக்கு வருபவர் கண்ணதாசன். கவிஞர் என்றாலே தத்துவம், காதல்,சோகம்,சரித்திரப்புகழ் என யாவரும் யூகிக்க இயலாத ஐயாயிரத்திற்கு அதிகமான அன்றும் இன்றும் என்றைக்கும் என எல்லா ந��ரங்களிலும் பொருந்தக்கூடிய மக்கள் மனதில் நீங்கா இடம்பிடித்த பாடல்களை படைத்தருளிய பாடலாசிரியராக மட்டுமே அறிமுகமான எனக்கு 'வனவாசம்' படிக்கப் படிக்க ஆச்சரியமே. ஓர் சுயசரிதையை எவ்வாறு சுவாரசியமாக படைக்க வேண்டும் என்பதற்கு கவிஞரே உதாரணம். மகாத்மா காந்தியின் சத்திய சோதனையையே மிஞ்சும் அளவிற்கு உண்மையை உரக்க கூறியுள்ள படைப்பு என்று கூறினால் மிகையல்ல. ஒருவன் 'எப்படி வாழக்கூடாது' என்பதற்கு நானே உதாரணம் என்று அவரே அறிமுகம் தந்து, தன்னை சாதாரண மனிதனாகவே பாவித்து, 1943 முதல் 1961வரையுள்ள காலகட்டத்தில் பல்வேறு நிகழ்வுகளை தொகுத்ததே இந்நூல். 'நீ எங்கு சென்றாலும் உருப்பட மாட்டாய்' என்று தனது எட்டாம் வகுப்பு ஆசிரியர் கூறியதை மெய்யாக்கும் விதமாகவே வனவாசம் அமைந்துள்ளது.அது வாழ்க்கையை சிறிதும் திட்டமிடலின்றி ஒரு கோட்பாடினை வகுக்காது ஒர் இலக்கு இன்றி பயணித்ததே அதற்கு காரணம். தனது வாழ்க்கையை சாதாரண எழுத்தாளனாக தொடங்கி ஆசிரியராக உயர்ந்து இறுதியில் தென்றல் என்ற பத்திரிக்கையினை நிறுவி பல்வேறு சாதனைகளை செய்துள்ளார். கடன் கடன் கடன் சிறுவயது முதல் வனவாசம் முடியும் வரை கடன்காரனே. தனது வாழ்வின் கருப்பு பக்கங்களை மறைக்க என்னும் பல பிரபலங்கள் மத்தியில் தன் வாழ்வில் நடந்த மிக அருவருப்பான சம்பவங்களை மறைக்காது எழுதியுள்ளமை வியக்க வைக்கிறது. அண்ணாவின் ஆளுமையை முதல் சந்திப்பிலே உணர்ந்து கலைஞர் கருணாநிதி அவர்களின் உற்ற நண்பராக திகழ்ந்து திராவிடத்தின் பால் ஈர்க்கப்பட்டு சுயமரியாதை எனனும் ஆயுத்ததை கையிலேந்தி பல்வேறு பொதுக்கூட்டங்களில் உரையாற்றி தேர்தலில் போட்டியிட்டு தோற்றும் தான் சேர்ந்த கட்சிக்கு எந்தவித எதிர்பார்பின்றி உழைத்தும் அங்கீகாரம் கிடைக்காது மனம் வழுவிழந்து கட்சியினைவிட்டு விலகி வனவாசத்தை முடித்துக்கொண்டார். வனவாசம் பெரும்பாலும் கட்சியின் வரலாற்று புத்தகமாக திகழ்கிறது. சில அத்தியாயங்களைத் தவிர பல அத்தியாயங்கள் கட்சியைச்சுற்றியும் கட்சியின் தலைவர்களைச் சுற்றியே அமைந்துள்ளது .தான் சேர்ந்த கட்சியின் உட்கட்சிப்பூசல் தவறான அனுகுமுறைகளையும் காட்ட தவறாத கவிஞர்,அறிஞர் அண்ணா அவர்களின் ஆளுமையுடன் சேர்த்து அவரின் பலவீனங்களையும் வெளிப்படையாக வெளிப்படுத்தியுள்ளார் கலைஞர் கருணாநிதியின் இன்னோர் முகத்தையும் தோலுரித்துள்ளமை வியக்கத்தக்க வகையிலும் அதிர்ச்சியாகவும் அமைந்துள்ளது.( அதுவே அரசியலில் முன்னேற வழி) அரசியலின் நுணுக்கங்களை அதன் தனது அனுபவத்தின் வாயிலாக அதாவது எல்லா செயல்களையும் கூட்டாக செய்தும் அதற்கான துன்பங்களையும் தண்டனைகளையும் தான் ஒருவன் மட்டுமே அனுபவித்தது துரோகத்தின் வெளிப்பாடே. .'தான் நல்லவன் உத்தமன்' என்று எங்கும் காட்டிக் கொள்ளவில்லை கிட்டதட்ட அனைத்து தீய பழக்கங்களையும் கற்று, பின் அதிலிருந்து மீண்டு வந்ததாகவே எழுதியுள்ளார். வைதீகனாக பிறந்தும் திராவிடத்தின்பால் ஈர்க்கப்பட்டு கடவுளை நிந்தனை செய்து பின்பு இறுதியில் திராவிட கட்சியையும் திராவிட கொள்கையும் தியாகம் செய்வதாக வனவாசம் முற்றுபெற்றது.இவ்வாறான புத்தகம் வெளிவந்ததே மிகவும் ஆச்சரியமானது. இப்புத்தகத்தின் தாக்கம் சில நாட்களுக்குத் தொடரும் என நம்புகிறேன். மனவாசத்தை நோக்கி பின்பு பயணிக்க ஆர்வமாக உள்ளேன்.

கண்ணதாசனன் கவிஞராக மட்டும் தெரிந்தவர்களுக்கு அவரது அரசியல் வாழ்க்கையைப் பற்றி இந்த புத்தகம் தெரிவிக்கிறது. நமக்கு பரிச்சயமான சில அரசியல் தலைவர்களுடனான கவிஞரின் நட்பு பற்றி பேசுகிறது. அவர் இந்த புத்தகத்தில் சொல்வது போலவே சில கசப்பான உண்மைகளை அப்படியே நிர்வாணமாக புத்தகம் பேசுகிறது. அரசியல் எப்படிப்பட்டது என கற்றுக்கொள்ளலாம்.

So politics-குள்ள இருந்த politics-அ தெரிஞ்சுக்கிட்டு அது தனக்கு ஒத்து வராதுன்னு புரிஞ்சு வெளிய வர அவருக்கு 10 வருஷம் ஆகி இருக்கு. அதோட அவரோட வனவாசம் முடியுது.

This book presents vast details about the initial phase of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagham rather than Kannadasan as a writer. Interesting Indeed!

1st half of Kanndasan's life Ethically he has started saying this is how one should not live. The narrative starts from his school days, early life, upbringing etc till he moves out of the DMK party. He narrates on important stages in his personal life.

An audacious auto-biography of one of my beloved poet "Kannadasan"... It gives vivid display of man's struggle towards path of success along with the political spectrum of Tamil Nadu during 1950-1962... The truthfulness of the tale just impressed me... Looking forward to the sequel "Manavasam"...
