AS USUAL ANOTHER PA.RAGHAVAN BOOK WITH A PACE OF AN ACTION MOVIE .BY FAR HE IS ONE OF THE BEST WRITERS IN TAMIL LITERARY WORLD WHO COULD MAKE A BORING HISTORY NOVEL INTO A ALL TIME LOVING FICTION BOOK.THE PROBLEM WITH PA.RAGHAVAN IS WE CAN'T FIND ANY MISTAKES AS WE THINK IT IS A WORK OF FICTION RATHER THAN SOME GATHERED FACTS.A MUST READ BOOK TO KNEW ABOUT THE HISTORY OF KASHMIR.

பணமதிப்பிழப்பு காங்கிரசு, GST காங்கிரசு என்று ஒவ்வொன்றுக்கும் காங்கிரசை கை காட்டும் பிஜேபி இந்தியா கூட்டமைப்பை நம்பி சேர்ந்த காசுமீரிகளை முதுகில் குத்தியதற்கும் அவர்களையே கை காட்டலாம். காசுமீரிகளை கொஞ்சம் கூட மதிக்காமல் தில்லியில் உட்கார்ந்துக் கொண்டு தான் தோன்றித்தனமாக காங்கிரசு செய்த செயல்களை விவரிக்கிறது. அச்செயல்களால் வெறுப்படைந்தவர்கள் எதிர் வினை ஆற்றினால் தீவிரவாதிகள் என்று முத்திரை குத்தி கொல்லுவார்கள். 370 யை பற்றி எதிர்ப்பார்த்தேன். அப்புறம் தான் தெரிந்தது இந்தப் புத்தகம் அதற்கு முன்னமே வெளிவந்து விட்டது.

About Kashmir,few doubts always dwelling on my mind like why Kashmir have separate flag?Why Kashmir has autonomous status?What is article 370 of the Indian constitution?Why they always stand separate from all other India's states?.. This book answered to all my questions and also perfectly narrated the Kashmir people's problems and India-Pakistan politics. Nicely said "காஷ்மீருக்கு வெளியே இருக்கும் இந்தியர்களால்,காஷ்மீரிகளின் காஷ்மீர் தேசிய உணர்வை புரிந்து கொள்வது சிரமம்." which is true. Good one:)

வழக்கமான பா.ராகவன் நடையில் வேகமாக நகர்ந்தாலும் வழக்கமான வெளிப்படையான காலத்தில் நடந்த நிகழ்வுகளின் விரிப்பைக் கடந்து உள்ளார்ந்து பேசவில்லை. காஷ்மீர் சிறப்பு அந்தஸ்து 370ம் அதிலுள்ள தகிடுதத்தங்கள் பற்றிய விவரணைகள் இல்லாத 355 பக்கங்கள் வீண். JKLF இந்துக்களைக் கொன்று குவித்த பிறகும் அவர்களை அவர்கள் பார்வையிலேயே மதச்சார்ப்பற்றவர்கள் என எழுதிக் கொண்டு வருவது எழுத்தாளனின் அபத்தம். காஷ்மீர் சுய விடுதலை அடையும் பட்சத்தில் அந்த நாட்டால் சுயமாக இருக்க முடியுமா என்பதின் அபத்தம் விவரிக்கப்பட வேயில்லை. சீனாவும், பாகிஸ்தானும் நட்பால் காஷ்மீரிகளின் சுய நிர்ணயத்தை எவ்வளவு காலம் விட்டு வைப்பார்கள் ? 370 நீக்கப்பட்டதற்கு முன்பான புத��தகமானதால் அதன் மொத்த வீரியமும் முடிந்து போனதாகவே உணர முடிகிறது. புத்தகத்தில் அதைச் சேர்ப்பதால் மட்டுமே உயிர்ப்படையும்.

Must read book to understand the facts about Kashmir. Clearly explains what's happening in Kashmir.. Their struggle and how Pakistan utilize it for their politics, of course India... A must read book to understand the truth about Kashmir!!!

Must read for anyone interested in Kashmir political history

Very informative and could debate the contents with friends who are associated with Kashmir. Gave some clarity

Very good book, well written and interesting. written by Indian but still in neutral way which is positive of this book. Definitely i suggest any one who intrested in politics and good book to know about kashmir issue.

Good but bit biased Gives a good intro about the history of Kashmir issue. But the author is bit biased towards Indian govt.Though people are aware about the Indian atrocities the author justifies it all the time.

A classical historical analysis of Kashmir An excellent book by Raghavan with minute detailing of events and unbiased reasoning of outcomes. My perspective towards Kashmir changed a lot post reading the book. Really recommend to read.

It is a shocking reality to understand through this book on why the Kashmiris are not identifying themselves as one among the Indian mainstream. The simple style of author makes the complex politics easily understandable. A real good read.

எளிதில் புரிந்து கொள்ள முடிந்தது. மிக அருமையாக பலதரப்பட்ட செய்திகளை தொகுத்து எழுதப்பட்ட புத்தகம். காஷ்மீரின் இரத்த சரித்திரத்தை கண்முன்னே சுட்டிக் காட்டிவிட்டது இப்புத்தகம். காஷ்மீரிகளின் வாழ்க்கை நம்மால் நினைத்து பார்க்க முடியாத வேதனை அளிக்கிறது. 1947 தொடங்கி இன்றும் அதே நிலை!!

காஷ்மீர் பற்றி ஒரு நல்ல அறிமுகம் காஷ்மீர் பிரச்சனை புரியாமல் ஒரு நிலைப்பாட்டை எடுப்பதைவிட, அதனை அறிந்து கொள்ள முயற்சி செய்வோர்க்கு இந்த புத்தகம் நல்ல களம். இவ்வளவு விளக்கமாக நமக்கு ஒருவர் சொல்லும் போது நம் நேரத்தை ஒதுக்கி கட்டாயம் படிக்க வேண்டிய கடமையை நிர்பந்திக்கிறது. கண்டிப்பாக ஒரு வகை திருப்தி தந்த புத்தகம் .

காஷ்மீர் பிரச்சினைக்கான அடிப்படைக் காரணங்களையும் காஷ்மீர் மக்களின் போராட்டம் அகிம்சைப் போராட்டத்திலிருந்து ஆயுதப்போராட்டமாக மாற்றமடைந்தததன் பின்னணியையும் காஷ்மீரை தமது கட்டுப்பாட்டுக்குள் வைத்திருப்பதற்காக இந்தியாவும் பாகிஸ்தானும் மேற்கொண்ட முயற்சிகளைப் பற்றியும் போதுமான தகவல்களுடன் எளிமையாக விளக்குகின்றது இந்நூல். ஆசிரியர் இந்தியர் என்பதால் நூலின் சில இடங்களில் இந்தியாவின் தவறுகளை ஓரளவுக்கேனும் நியாயப்படுத்தும் கருத்துக்களை காணமுடிகின்றது. சில நூல்களில் தேவையின்றி அலட்டி வாசிப்பவர்களை கடுப்பேற்றும் பா.ரா இந்நூலில் அடக்கிவாசித்திருப்பது மகிழ்ச்சி. Excellent!! Very, very informative with facts, opinions and analyses on Kashmir situation. The author starts the book with some historical facts (true or not, don’t know) from 14th century when Hinduism (Saivites) was the major religion followed in Kashmir. The Brahmins were called Pandits in that period. During the period of Ashoka and Kanishka, Buddhism entered Kashmir. However, it was not major religion and couldn’t gain popularity as Pandits were wealthy and educated even though Buddhist King reign the region. To get Pandits under their control, Buddhist King Sukadeva invited Muslim scholars from Afghanistan. Then Muslim rulers entered India via Kashmir. During 19th century, King Ranjith Singh of Punjab captured Kashmir and made Gulab Singh as King of Kashmir who was to pay tribute to Ranjith Singh. When British entered India, Punjab couldn’t pay tribute to British. Gulab Singh paid 75 lakhs and in return British made an agreement and sold Jammu and Kashmir to him. J&K people never participated in Indian freedom struggle. When India got independence, J&K was the second biggest princely state, next to Hyderabad and biggest in population. Hari Singh was the king of J&K who was Hindu and majority of people in J&K were Muslims. When Sardar Patel started the unification of all the princely States as United India after Independence, Hari Singh didn’t want to join either India or Pakistan quoting that the entire J&K was his property. In J&K, people of all three religions lived in peace when it comes to religion, however, suffered greatly due to poverty resulting from negligence and poor governance by Hari Singh. Sheikh Abdullah, the people leader who has religious tolerance, wanted to fight for the poor. Initially he tried to reach the king, which failed. Then, he became the people leader fighting for the people’s rights. In the mean time, Pakistan was afraid that J&K will become part of India started sending people, from Afghanistan, promising them wealth through looting Kashmir, across the border. Hari Singh, sought India’s help. Eventually, he signed the papers attaching Kashmir to India and Sheikh Abdullah became the chief minister of J&K. He was a friend of Nehru. At one point, Nehru lost confidence in him resulting in tension in J&K, arrest of Sheikh Abdullah, loss of confidence of Kashmir people in Indian government. From there started the steady decline of people’s confidence in India, the Hindu-Muslim conflict, Pakistan constantly helping the various Kashmir front leagues with money and weapons. America also indirectly helped the terrorists through their support to Pakistan. The congress government’s (read Indira Gandhi’s) constant interference in Kashmir politics, fake democracy, Governor rule, Governor Jag Mohan’s tyrant rule with supporting minority Hindus and belittling and oppressing Muslims resulted in continuing terrorism. Kashmiris, even today, don’t want to join either India or Pakistan, it seems.
