Enjoyed and also I could easily connect poonachi with so many young women in India

I read quickly. but I could hardly get poonachi out of my head afterwards. Made me Question myself and society and so many other thoughts.:

Profoundly simply story

At the outset, Poonachi is the story of a runty, puny little goat, which stands out because she’s a goat that’s a rare all black one, struggling to get nourishment since she’s not with her mother, surviving against all odds with the love and protection of an old woman and a man. How she lives, what she hopes for (friendship and food), her first love and the confidence and the heartbreak it causes, her first sexual experience with an old goat in which she has no say, her unexpected fame thanks to the 7 kids she produces in a litter, Poonachi is your quintessential voiceless animal. Her life is not her own. She is given to the old man by a strange giant of a man at that magical time that’s neither day nor night, with the promise that she has the unusual gift of producing litters of 7 kids. Which she does. But it’s really a metaphor for the story of the people who raise her, the voiceless common man at the mercy of the “rajangam” or government and the bureaucracy, the unreliability of the...

This is first book from this author , i started to read. The way of writing is so good, that it makes us to feel from the place of writing. One of the best books i have read, and highly recommended for the people who are yet to start these kind of genres.

One of the best book in my list

I enjoyed the content of the book. Perumal Murugan goes into a lot of detail and creates the scene beautifully. The story line is absorbing after a point and kept me wondering where it would lead. There is an underlying sadness, A strange mix of fatalism and effort in the way the couple work at bringing up Poonachi. The many human elements and the subtle critic of powers was interesting. At times the book was a little lengthy and somewhat repetitive- that's why 4 instead of 5*. Reminded me of animal farm in parts.

After a long time, I could not drop the book and do other work. Its so well written and I could enjoy reading continuously along with my 2 year old daughter who likes the word Poonachi :) Poonachi, will go into histroy as one of the elites books in Tamil Novel Histroy. Hats off to Permal Murugan for producing this magical book. All natural lovers will certainly enjoy this book.

எனக்கு பிடிக்கவில்லை.ஆனால் பெருமாள் முருகன் ஐயா, பழைய காலத்தில் வாழ்ந்த கதையை எப்படி இது போன்று கண் முன் நிறுத்தி விடுகிறார்கள்...அது வரை சந்தோஷம்..ஆடு கற்சிலை ஆனாது... வ்யுகத்தில்....

I'm really obessed to not complete the book. The story narration is really really tooo good. What a animal feels we still don't care but if we are an animal in place of poonachi. What we will speak and do is we won't sell or eat them. Family is family whatever it is. Atlast I started to cry because of her leave. That time I missed my calf at my home. Tha same happened very recently. Its a heart touching story.

Simple story but the way he presented in a simple language was good to read.
