Both are known for their extraordinary strength and valour. Both are the sons of Vayu, the wind god. Hanuman lived in the Tretayug serving Sri Rama while Bheema, a contemporary of Krishna, lived in the Dwaparyug. The Mahabharata narrates the story of an encounter between the two mighty brothers.

The relationship between Bheema and Hanuman is examined in this interesting comic. Questions of power and responsibility are contextualized as Bheema seeks to measure his greatness; ultimately he is forced to shift his perception as he is allowed to see Hanuman in a different light. A wonderful story of growth through evolving identity.

28 Nov 2020 1. Just so you know, Nokkada Nammude Marge Kidakkuna Markada Neeyangu Markkadashada was playing in my head on repat while I was reading this. 2. Anyway. In both of the major Hindu epics the protagonists are exiled to the forest for Plot Reasons, and in this case it's the five Pandava brothers and their wife Draupadi. The title of the story is a little misleading, because it's really more about Bhima's relationship with his wife whom he loves very much but who prefers Arjuna. It's awkward all around. 3. A wild Ghatotchaka appears! The poor kid does not deserve your deadbeat ass for a dad Bhima I'm just saying. 4. So anyway the main story here is that Bhima, a very strong guy and the son of the wind god, goes questing for some flowers because his wife wanted them. He braves a forest filled with fierce wild animals and defeats a bunch of them and scares away the rest. His older half brother Hanuman the monkey god sees him and in true older brother fashion decides to tease the guy by taking the form of an old monkey and blocking Bhima's way. What follows is some genuinely hilarious trolling where Bhima boasts about his older brother the unconquerable Hanuman while Hanuman mocks his zeal. Alas, this interpretation isn't really a thing in this comic, and that makes me feel irrationally cheated. 5. Anyway the rest of the story is Bhima being Very Strong don't you know and that's mostly fluff and not plot so no, not one of my favorite Amar Chitra Kathas.
