கண்ணதாசனின் அர்த்தமுள்ள இந்து மதம். மதம் என்பதின் தோற்றம் , தேவை, மனித குலத்திற்கு அது தரும் போதனை, தனி மனித ஒழுக்கம், கட்டுப்பாடு ஆகியவற்றை பத்து பாகங்களில் அழகாய் விவரிக்கிறார். கடவுள்கள், சிறு தெய்வங்கள், கோயில்கள், சிலை வழிபாடு, புராணங்கள், இதிகாசங்கள், அவதாரங்கள் ஆகியவற்றை தனக்குரிய எளிய நடையில் விளக்குகின்றார். நடுவில் வரும் பட்டினத்தார் கதை சிறப்பு. மனித நிலையின் மேம்பாடே தெய்வ நிலை, மனிதாபிமானத்தை உருவாக்குவது மதாபிமானம் என்ற வரிகள் இனிமை. இந்து மதம் மட்டுமல்ல எல்லா மதங்களுமே போதிப்பது அன்பு, கருணை. ஆக ஒரு நல்ல மனிதன் ஒரு நல்ல இந்துவாகத் தான் இருப்பான் என்பது ஏற்புடையதாய் இல்லை. மதங்களின் நோக்கம் மனிதனை மேம்படுத்தவதாயின், எல்லா மதங்களுமே அர்த்தமுள்ள மதங்கள் தான்.
This book is a collection of teachings from different hindu saints from the south and some life experiences of the author himself. He has tried so much to give meaning to the principles of hindu matham but definitely not very convincing to me. Some of his life experiences with cinema and politics are interesting to read but trying to fit those with hindu matham beliefs doesn't blend well.
I would never recommend this to any women as its all set on patriarchal grounds and its hard to digest to even understand that many women are made to believe that those are hindu matham beliefs. This is definitely not a book to know about hindu matham as the writer himself seems to have little knowledge on this topic.
A very good book for people who are in search of life, philosophy and religion (Hinduism). The essence of Hindu philosophy and dharma is shared in glass of author's experience. Many may think it is against female. Feminist would recommend to avoid this book. JUST KEEP IN MIND THIS WRITING IS ATLEAST 50 YEARS OLD. Please think about author's mindset and the way he grown up. Author has justified all his writing and every piece of writing is for well being of human. Since author is male he might have portrayed his sayings from men perspective but surely for all. And not only Hindus should read it but all liberal Muslims,Christians, bhudhist, Jains etc.. can read it. Suitable for everyone and worth reading 900 pages.
As actor Sivakumar said in one of his speeches, the book has got nothing to do with the Hindu religion. The book empowers you to take more of a spiritual journey rather than impose religionism. The book is dated a bit with respect to a certain cultural perspective, especially towards feminism. But culture is something which changes every few decades. Since the book is an autobiography/non-fiction/self-help book, the reader is strongly advised to have a filter of their own in order to feel enriched about the values said in the book.
P.S: It helped a lot to get through the corona lockdown. And I don't believe the author's notion of Hindusim proposing so many good values first. It's not like moon landing after all. It doesn't matter in the spiritual journey who said what first. If someone said it that is greater than saying nothing.
Must Read. The book has changed my way of living. Kannadasan is a Legend.

This book won't bore you even for a single second...
It's actually good book, but there are more things that Kannadasan wrote only on his perspective. But actual Hinduism is more than that. Actual Hinduism is unbelievable good that most of us haven't yet realized. I can take only good points where Kannadasan pointed out in this book. But there are more things that Kannadasan missed to point out in Arthamulla Hindu Matham.

A Book, which changed my life style. Love it..
I was terribly upset bcoz of this book. what is he even trying to say? kannadasan is one of the best and my favorite poet just bcoz of that I got the curiosity to try this one. But I got inevitably irritated by this one.
If you are a feministic person, you won't accept the points he were pointing out in this book. I barely crossed 100 pages.
I thought that this book would be regarding the scientific or psychological fact of Hinduism but this explains the mythical beliefs only.
for example, he tells that every women should watch her legs while walking just because of that other men won't get attracted to her. Why can't he just say men too to behave good with all women.
He also proves himself as a good one like he was the one who have been cheated by others always and he hadn't cause any hurtful things to others. That may be true too.. But he keeps on telling that all along the book which makes us to reevaluate about that.
I expected this book like the Osho's or J.Krishnamoorthy's book. BUT AT LAST I GOT ONLY DISAPPOINTMENT.
