സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ ശബ്ദങ്ങളിലേക്ക് ഒരു നേർകാഴ്ച്ച... കഥാകൃത്തിനോട് വേറൊരാൾ ജീവിതകഥ പറയുന്നതാണ് സന്ദർഭം. സമൂഹത്തിലെ പല ആളുകളെ കുറിച്ചും അവരുടെ ജീവിതത്തെ കുറിച്ചും പറയുന്ന ഒരു കുഞ്ഞു നോവൽ. യുദ്ധം, രോഗം, അനാഥത്വം, ആത്മഹത്യ, സ്ത്രീ, വേശ്യ എല്ലാം ഈ നോവലിൽ കടന്നു പോകുന്നുണ്ട്.

A different one from the great Sultan It's really a thought provoking one from the author. This story could have been better if the author had some more knowledge in medical science.

A fantastic story detailing the journey of a man who is devoid of all the joys in the world. Also, author's standpoint on War,Depression,Suicide and Transgender is well ahead of the time in which this story was written...........

Reading Shabdangal (Voices) is an unexplainable experience. Some readers may take it as a work of intellectual rubbish. But, can they talk about the topics that Basheer covered in this book with the same level of intensity and courage? Shabdangal is an impossible work in 21st century. Because, it literally creates a lot of noises.

വൈക്കം മുഹമ്മദ് ബഷീറിന്റെ പതിവ് ശൈലിയിലുള്ള ഉള്ള ഒരു ചെറിയ നോവൽ. ആകെ രണ്ട് കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളെ ഉള്ളൂ. അതിലൊരാൾ കഥാകൃത്താണ്. കഥാകൃത്തിനോട് സ്വന്തം ജീവിതകഥ പറയുന്ന മറ്റൊരാൾ. ഇതാണ് നോവലിന്റെ ഇതിവൃത്തം. ഇതിൽ യുദ്ധത്തെപ്പറ്റിയും അയാൾ കണ്ടുമുട്ടിയ ആളുകളിൽനിന്ന് കിട്ടിയ സമ്മാനങ്ങളെ പറ്റിയും സ്ത്രീകളെ പറ്റിയും പരാമർശിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. പറയത്തക്ക ഒരു കഥ ഒന്നുമില്ല എങ്കിലും വായിക്കാൻ തോന്നിപ്പിക്കുന്ന എന്തോ ഒന്ന് അതിലുണ്ട് താനും.

ബഷീറിന്റെ മികച്ച കൃതികളിലൊന്ന്. 1960 കളിൽ നിലനിന്നിരുന്ന നവോത്ഥാന മാനവികതയുടെ അതിരുകളിൽ നിൽക്കാത്ത, ��രിത്രത്തിന്റെ ഇരുളിൽ മാഞ്ഞു പോകേണ്ടിയിരുന്ന ഒരു ജനതയുടെ കഥയാണ് ബഷീറിന്റെ കൃതികൾ. 'The making of English working class' എന്ന പേരിൽ 1955 ൽ ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടിൽ ഒരു പുസ്തകമിറങ്ങുകയുണ്ടായി. അധസ്ഥിത സമൂഹ പഠനത്തിന് തുടക്കം കുറിച്ച ഗ്രന്ഥം E P Thompson ആണ് രചിച്ചത്. പുസ്തകത്തിന്റെ ആമുഖത്തിൽ ഗ്രന്ഥകാരൻ ഇങ്ങനെ പറയുന്നു: 'കാലപ്രവാഹത്തിൽലഞ്ഞു പോവുമെന്ന് കരുതിയ പെറുക്കികൾക്ക് നാവ് നൽകാനാണ് ഞാൻ ഇതെഴുതുന്നത്.' ഇത്തരത്തിലുള്ള ഒരു മഹത്തായ മുന്നേറ്റമാണ് ബഷീറിന്റെ കൃതികൾ. ശബ്ദങ്ങൾ അതിലെ നാഴിക കല്ലും.

இந்த புத்தகம் இரு சிறுகதைகளை கொண்டது. விளிம்புநிலை உலகத்தில் வாழும் மனிதர்களைப் பற்றியும், அவர்களின் வாழ்வியலையும் விவரிக்கிறது. 1. சப்தங்கள் : இரண்டு மனிதர்களுக்கு இடையேயான உரையாடலைப் பற்றியது. அனாதையாய் பிறந்து இரண்டாம் உலகப்போரில் போரிட்ட ஒரு வீரன் தன் ராணுவ வாழ்க்கைப் பயணத்தையும், அவன் சந்தித்த மனிதர்களை பற்றியும், அதன் அனுபவத்தையும் ஒரு எழுத்தாளரிடம் உரையாடுவது போன்ற கதை. இரண்டாவது கதை "மூணுசீட்டு விளையாட்டுகாரனின் மகள்" - ஜேப்படி செய்யும் ஒருவன் அவன் காதலியை கரம்பிடிக்க செய்யும் சுவாரஸ்யமான கதை. ஒரு தகப்பன், கதையின் இறுதியில் தன் மகளைப��� பற்றி பேசும் வசனம் - அகந்தையும் உச்சம் என்று தெரியும். சமகால மலையாள இலக்கியத்தில் ஓரினச்சேர்க்கையைப் பற்றி முதலில் பேசியது "சப்தங்கள்" தான். ஒரு சமூக விமர்சனமாகவும், அதே நேரத்தில் மனித வாழ்வின் துயரங்களையும், அவமானங்களையும் பதிவு செய்கிறது

It's what I call 'intellectual rubbish', in brief! Not at all up to the benchmark Vaikom Muhammad Basheer set for himself through his brilliant works like 'Balyakalasakhi', 'Pathummayude Aadu', 'Bhumiyude Avakaashikal'and all. The writer, through his protagonist, was trying to find answers to one too many questions concurrently that it led to the build up of total chaos in the readers' mind. The protagonist with the help of a writer mentioned in the book, is trying to dig deep and question many of their doubts and the anomalies in the nature and society which leads to an impasse. After reading the book, I felt that the book started off from somewhere and ended somewhere else, leaving me confused and hazed. Though we must not ignore some of the useful facts and opinions the writer shared through his characters. There were, indeed, some noteworthy causes one must, as a human being, should fight for like the LGBTQ issues (a small section of the LGBTQ is mentioned in this book through some of the incidents happening in the protagonist's life), the hardships faced by an army soldier and his mindset during a war, how war transforms the mind of the ones inflicting it and the victims permanently, to what is almost a dead-pan condition; the strenuous lives of the STD infected people and how the society treats them, about religion and God, about the invisible lives led by the ignored and suppressed sections of the society etc. There is also an incident in the book which portrays how a mother of an infant child has to sell her body to a stranger in order to buy some food for her child. So that's what I said earlier. Basheer is trying to convey many of his ideals and is opining about many social issues and occurrences which makes the plot of the book chaotic and minds of the readers conjusted with the writer's as well as their thoughts. So, in my opinion, the writer should have concentrated on some issues rather than trying to grasp more than one could handle. Then, for the sake of arguing one might say indicating the title of the book, that as the title "Shabdangal' (Voices) suggests, the writer is trying to speak up many of the questioning and deafening voices he hears in his head and all around him which makes the plot noisy and which has left the protagonist himself disoriented. But what I believe is that, only when a writer is able to convey his thoughts and emotions with his readers' completely to an extent, he can be said to be successful with his effort. Otherwise, the whole thing will be like the water taken in a cupped hands. One might think that he has a handful of water or one might wish to gather it all, only to be awaken to the fact that water had been slipping between his fingers all the while he tried taking in more. So, after taking into consideration all these facts, I must say, I'm quite unimpressed.

പറയാൻ മടിക്കുന്ന അനുഭവങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കും ചിട്ടയുമില്ലാത്ത കഥയാണ് ശബ്ദങ്ങൾ. ബഷീറിൻ്റെ ചെറിയ വിപ്ലവങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്ന്. യുദ്ധം കഴിയുന്നതോടു കൂടി രാജ്യം ബാധ്യതയായി കണ്ട് പിരിച്ചു വിടുന്ന പട്ടാളക്കാരൻ. കുഞ്ഞിനെ ഉറുമ്പ് കടിക്കുമ്പോൾ അപ്പുറത്ത് മാറി നിന്നു ശരീരം വിൽക്കുന്ന അമ്മ. വൈപരീത്യങ്ങളുടെ അലറിക്കരച്ചിൽ കേൾക്കാം ഈ പുസ്തകത്തിൽ.

What I love the most about an artist or an author is their rebellion. Their rebellion against a world that's too cruel. Against the unfair systems that govern this world. Against the lies, the superficiality, the selfishness. To rebel against the system, face to face, with no dearth of sincerity or courage, and then to end it all with an ironic joke! Basheer doing Basheer things. Chef's kiss! I'm not sure if this book resonated with me so much today because I'm also feeling so lonely, but it definitely did.

റീഡേഴ്‌സ് ബ്ലോക്കിനെ അതിജീവിക്കാനുള്ള വഴികൾ ആലോചിച്ചപ്പോൾ മനസ്സിലേക്ക് വന്നത് ബഷീറിന്റെ കൃതികളാണ്.. ബഷീറിനെ വായിച്ചാൽ ആ ബ്ലോക്ക്‌ അങ്ങ് മാറിക്കിട്ടും എന്ന് എനിക്ക് തന്നെ തോന്നി. അങ്ങനെ വായിക്കാനെടുത്ത നോവലാണ് ശബ്ദങ്ങൾ.. 1947 ലാണ് ശബ്ദങ്ങൾ പുറത്തിറങ്ങുന്നതത്. രണ്ടു ���ഥാപാത്രങ്ങളാണ് ഈ ചെറു നോവലിൽ ഉള്ളത്. പട്ടാളത്തിൽ നിന്ന് വിരമിച്ച സൈനികനും പിന്നെ എഴുത്തുകാരനും. ഒരു ദിവസം അർദ്ധ രാത്രിയിൽ എഴുത്തുകാരന്റെ മുറിയിലേക്ക് അപ്രതീക്ഷിതമായി കയറി വരികയാണ് സൈനികൻ.. തന്റെ ജീവിത കഥ എഴുത്തുകാരനോട് പറയുക എന്നതാണ് അയാളുടെ ഉദ്ദേശം. അടുക്കും ചിട്ടയുമില്ലാതെ അയാൾ ആ കഥ പറഞ്ഞു തുടങ്ങുന്നു... നാലും കൂടിയ കവലയിൽ നിന്ന് ഒരു വൈദികൻ എടുത്തു വളർത്തിയ അനാഥനായ ചോരകുഞ്ഞ് വളർന്നു വലുതായി ഒരു പട്ടാളക്കാരനായി തീരുന്നു. അയാൾ രണ്ടാം ലോക മഹായുദ്ധത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്നു.. ശത്രുക്കളെ കൊന്നൊടുക്കുന്നു.. ഒടുവിൽ യുദ്ധഭൂമിയിൽ നിന്ന് തിരിച്ചു വരുന്ന അയാൾ സ്വവർഗസംഭോഗം ചെയ്ത് രോഗാതുരനായി മാറുന്നു.. ജീവിത യാത്രയിലെ കൊടിയ നൈരാശ്യം അയാളെ ആത്മഹത്യയ്ക്ക് പ്രേരിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. എന്നാൽ അവിടെയും അയാൾ പരാജയപ്പെടുന്നു. ബഷീറിന്റെ ശക്തമായ എഴുത്താണ് നോവലിന്റെ കാതൽ. യുദ്ധക്കളത്തിലെ ഭീകരത, വർഗീയ യുദ്ധങ്ങളുടെ മൃഗീയത, മനുഷ്യന്റെ മുഖം മൂടിയണിഞ്ഞുള്ള കപട സദാചാരം, വേശ്യാവൃത്തി, പാതിവൃത്യം, ലൈംഗിക ദാരിദ്രം മുതലായ പല പ്രശ്നങ്ങളും എഴുത്തുകാരൻ നോവലിൽ തുറന്നു കാട്ടുന്നുണ്ട്.. ശബ്ദങ്ങൾ എന്ന നോവൽ Voices / The Walls എന്ന പേരിൽ, ഇംഗ്ലീഷിലും ആവാസേം ഔർ ദിവാരേം എന്ന പേരിൽ ഹിന്ദിയിലും പുറത്തിറക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.. . . . 📚Book -ശബ്ദങ്ങൾ ✒️Writer- വൈക്കം മുഹമ്മദ്‌ ബഷീർ 🖇️publisher- dcbooks

இரு கதைகள் - சப்தங்கள், மூணுசீட்டு விளையாட்டுக்காரனின் மகள் - முதல் கதையில் தனிமையின் இருண்ட முகத்தையும் இரண்டாம் கதையில் கலகலப்பான ஒரு உலகத்தையும் உருவாக்கியுள்ளார் பஷீர். யாருமற்ற ஒருவனும் ஒருவனுக்காக ஒரு ஊரே ஆதரிப்பதும் என இரு துருவங்களாக படைத்துள்ளார்.

ജീവിതത്തിൽ തന്നേ സ്നേഹിക്കാനോ വെറുക്കാനോ ആരുമില്ലായെന്നു മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്ന നിമിഷം മനുഷ്യൻ മരിക്കുന്നു.

This short novel by Basheer by itself should be enough to get him a place among the cynical writers like Kafka, Dostoevsky and Orwell. I was baffled to see a novel from 40s in an Indian regional language exploring topics which are still sort of taboo in our society. The lack of critical and popular attention for this book is proof enough for our society's reluctance to discuss unsavory topics. The economic style of Basheer is highly readable. There is not a single line that does not propel the story or elucidate the view of the writer. In this regard, this book is like a James Cain thriller. Although the novel has many characters in addition to the narrator, they all remain unnamed. The narrative is primarily dialogue driven. The best and briefest critical acclaim for the book that I found was from an MN Vijayan quote that I found in about the book : It might challenge your worldview and you might react to it belligerently. This explains the polarized view about the book. But if you are someone who likes Kafka, Dostoevsky or Orwell, then this will be a rewarding read.
