காவிரி மைந்தன், பாகம் 2 [Kaviri Maindhan, Part 2]

Slow paced book, boring at many places. However its better than part 1. Climax was good. Author could have written this book in 200 pages to make it more interesting. This book is a big let down for vandhiya thevan and Ponniyin selvan's fans. Both of them are portrayed as dummy piece.

காவிரி மைந்தனின் இரண்டாம் பாகம், பழுவேட்டரையர் மகள்களை பகடையாக்கும் முயற்சியும், அதனால் பாண்டியர்களின் ஆபத்துதவி கூட்டத்திற்கு ஏற்படும் பின்னடைவும் முக்கிய நிகழ்வுகள்.. இதில் கந்தமாறன், வந்தியன் மற்றும் அடியான் பாண்டியர்களின் பொக்கிஷத்தை தேடி லங்கை சென்று வருவதும், பின்னாளில் கந்தமாறனுக்கு அதே விஷயத்தில் அதிர்ஷ்டம் கிடைப்பதும் கொஞ்சம் சுவாரஷ்யமூட்டுவன. பாண்டியர்களின் பொக்கிஷங்களை ராஜேந்திர சோழனும் தேடி கண்டுபிடிக்க முடியாமல், அதன் பிறகு வந்த சோழர்களால் கண்டுபிடிக்க பட்டது என்பது வரலாறு... ஆனால் அதே வரலாறு முறையாக திரிக்கப்பட்டு மீண்டும் அதன் உண்மை மாறாமல் விட்டுவிட்டது ஆசிரியரின் சாமர்த்தியம்.. இடையில் நந்தினியும், ரவிதாசனும் சந்தித்து கொள்ளும்போது தொடங்கும் நீண்ட தொடர் வசனங்கள், கதையின் வேகத்தை குறைக்கிறது.. சில குறைகள் இருந்தாலும், முடிவில் விரைவாக பாகம் 3 க்கு நம்மை எடுத்து சென்றுவிடும்...

Wow! What a ride! I was expecting something unique but the book didn't meet my expectations after the first part. If the first part was confusing with its destination, the Second part was even more confusing. No, I wasn't confused but looks like the author is. When the first part of the book started it seemed like they were going to go behind Pandiyan Aabathudhavis and somehow the Author will close this chapter (I'm okay if she didn't) and then it kinda traversed to the Love angle, was hoping something significant would happen here, It actually did and we can call it a bittersweet ending. In this book we see Arulmozhi Varmar taking some vanavaasam types where he gets new friendships and also he learns how people of Madurai (Pandiyan's Capital) regard Chozhas but merely show it and not doing anything about it seems very lazy writing. If the Author tells us something shouldn't it impact the decisions in the later part? Nothing like that happens and looks like the Author herself doesn't want to explore that area. I can't say. There is also an act by Arulmozhi which was shocking, if that is what is going to happen why develop a friendship between them only to commit that act? I felt like they were a mere waste of pages. The more irksome thing about this book is that The women author herself makes some Male chauvinistic decisions people might argue this book is based in an unknown era or maybe an era filled with regressive practices, yes they are no doubt but it is fiction for god's sake and people can write "Not so typical women thoughts written by men" kinda tropes. A woman writing such stuff is an even more shocking thing for me. In a nutshell, the book is very disappointing in many areas and most importantly the Authorseems confused and not sure where the book should go. Most importantly, Why did she even name it "Kaaviri Maindhan?" when PS does nothing magnanimous?
