டாக்டர் நரேந்திரன் அரசாங்க மருத்துவமனையில் பணியாற்றுகிறவர். மருத்துவமனையின் அடுத்த டீனாக வர வேண்டியவர். வெளிநாடுகளில் படித்துப் பல பட்டங்கள் வாங்கியவர். அவர் மீது ஒரு கோமா நோயாளியின் ஆக்ஸிஜன் போன்ற ஜீவாதாரக் குழாய்களைப் பிடுங்கி மூச்சை நிறுத்தியது, அரசு மருத்துவமனையின் விதிகளை மீறி ஒரு இளம் பெண்ணுக்கு கருக்கலைப்பு செய்து வைத்தது, தடை செய்யப்பட்ட மருந்து ஒன்றை புற்றுநோயால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட ஒரு சிறுவனுக்குக் கொடுத்து அவன் இறந்து போகக் காரணமாக இருந்தது என்று மூன்று குற்றங்கள் சுமத்தப்பட்டு கோர்ட்டில் வழக்கு தொடங்குகிறது. ஜட்ஜின் பரிந்துரையின் பேரில், இந்தக் கேஸுக்குள் கணேஷும், வசந்தும் நுழைகிறார்கள். டாக்டரின் கேசை எடுத்து நடத்துகிறார்கள். பிறகென்ன சுஜாதாவின் கூர்மையான எழுத்துகளில் வாதப் பிரதிவாதங்கள் அனல் பறக்கின்றன. I have read this book before more than once. But it feels fresh every time I read it. The characters are sympathetic and as usual Sujatha manages to convey a lot with very few words. The character of Vasanth is more subdued that usual in this one - and that is a big relief.

கதையின் போக்கு விறுவிறுப்பாக இருந்தாலும், முடிவு என்னை பெரிதும் பாதிக்கவில்லை. சுஜாதாவின் மற்ற மர்மக் கதைகளோடு ஒப்பிடும்போது சற்றே ஏமாற்றமளிக்கும் முடிவுதான். இருந்தும், உரைநடை எப்போதும் போல ரசிக்கவைக்கிறது.

A good story well narrated using novel dramatic devices. However, it lacked the sharp analysis and deductions for which Sujatha and his protagonists, Ganesh and Vasanth are well known. Perhaps as a stage play, it may get a better rating from the audience.

Sujatha’s stage play is indeed one of a kind legal case where Dr. Narendran, accused of committing two murders and one illegal abortion, pleads guilty in the court of law. He is represented by the inimitable lawyer, Ganesh and his irreverent, but able assistant, Vasanth. I loved the twists and turns in the story, with an ending the reader is almost certain to not expect. This is, after all, the first story of Sujatha I have read where Ganesh/Vasanth pair fail to ensure justice is served.

நம் இன்றைய சூழ்நிலைகளின் மனிதநேயம் பணம் அரசியல் இதில் எது உயர்ந்தது என கூறும் நாடகம். சுஜாதாவின் தெறி பறக்கும் வசனங்கள் பக்கத்துக்கு பக்கம் விறு விருப்பு . உண்மை. அது கோர்ட்டிலே கிடையாது டாக்டர் . கோர்ட்டிலே உண்மைக்கு ரூபமே, அந்தஸ்தே வேறே. இங்க இருக்குறது எல்லாம் வெறும் உண்மை இல்லே .எல்லாம் ஐ.பி.ஸி. தடவின உண்மை. முதல் முறையாக கணேஷ் வசந்த் தோற்று நிற்பதை பார்க்கிறேன்.
