அகக்கருவிகளுள் மனம் என்பது எண்ணங்களைத் தோற்றுவிப்பது: புத்தி என்பது அறிதலுக்கு உரியது, சித்தம் என்பது மீண்டும் மீண்டும் எண்ணங்களை மனத்திக்கு கொண்டு வருவது: அகங்காரம் என்பது எண்ணங்களை வன்மையும் திண்மையும் அடையச் செய்வது.

மனம் தூய்மைபெற்றால் எண்ணங்கள் தூய்மைஉறும். எண்ணங்கள் தூய்மைஉறின் சொல், செயல் எல்லாம் தூய்மைஉறும். அதுவே அறவாழ்வின் அடிப்படை. எனவேதான் தெய்வப்புலவர் திருவள்ளுவர்."மனத்துக்கண் மாசுஇலன் ஆதல் அனைத்துஅறன் ஆகுல நீர பிற" என்று பாடி அருளினார்.

இருபதாம் நூற்றாண்டின் ஈடு இணையற்ற தமிழ்ப் பெருங்கவிஞன் வரகவி பாரதி அன்னை முத்துமாரியை நோக்கி, "துணி வெளுக்க மண்ணுண்டு தோல் வெளுக்க சாம்பருண்டு மணி வெளுக்க சாணையுண்டு ஆனால் மனம் வெளுக்க வழி என்ன? " என்று வேண்டுகிறான்.

This Tamil book is the equivalent of the popular ‘The Secret’ English book and one of the main reasons for reading it as well It was written several decades earlier and though the content is timeless and could easily stand the test of time, this book fails to do so for some major parts since the author touches upon some historical scientific events which makes feel a bit old in those parts alone otherwise the content is classic & timeless and would apply to any given time period as it takes the route of the motivational side of humans. It's a good one-time quick read if you’re really interested in the motivational content.

I read this book first as part of my college Tamil syllabus. So glad this was part of it because it gives you very good understanding of how your thoughts can impact your life. This was written way before The Secret and in such a simple way that you can easily grasp the fundamentals. I can confidently say this is the only book that I read in college I re-visited later :)

This book was exceptional. In India, especially in Hindu beliefs, It is a custom to perform spiritual rituals at the start or end of any activity, Though I am not an Atheist, I strongly believed that there should be some strong reason for that other than God, and this book helped me in understanding that. It gave powerful insights on how our thoughts and thinking process carve our life. The rituals are performed to improve the positive thinking process which will have a great impact on the things we do. Dr.M.S.Udhyamoorthy has explained this complicated process with simple words and lots of practical examples for people with no knowledge on Psychology to understand its core concepts. This book is a must read for people who struggle to think and hesitate to admit that.
