I liked few short stories of this book very much. They are funny and twist ending. Tamil language used in the book is simple and easy to follow. The mix of classic background stories with contemporary software company stories are good. My Favorite are Elipori, Peedhi and Thavaruthal...

SILICONPURAM is a collection of 12 short tamil stories of excellent themes of family stories .The stories with minute details in the humorous and funny situations and sometimes alarming and emotional circumstances will entertain you to a great extent. In all the stories the climax is amazing. It is predictable but not unbelievable. Since the title " Silicompuram" relates to the cyber world ,I like it as it is my favorite subject .Also the captions of the stories resemble films which are big hits now. The stories talk about the youth belonging to the new generation .The book deals with the generation gap and the sea change of the society. The Plot. In Bagubali thatha Ramu brings his father Nagaraj to his house .After both Ramu and his wife Janani goes to their office Nagaraj plays with his grandson Vinay. Like this, every story starts and end with a twist revealing the suspense. The Characters I like all the characters ,as they are realistic and practical. In the “Nanayam” story I admire the honesty and innocence of the beggar who hands over the iPhone, he has found out on the ground to a policeman. Most of the characters are employees in the IT sector and their near and dear ones. Some are poor . My favorite. Nan avanillai is my favourite story .I like the conversations and the poetic prose . Also, I like the simple language and the narration albeit there are many English words like IT , MNC, UK, .The words like auto forward , auto reply are not translated , but they are written in tamil. My verdict The stories carry superb messages and morals. . The author has given a garland made of 12 golden flowers in the form of stories targeting the youth belonging to the present generation especially to those working in the IT field. Samura's writing style is fantastic and beautiful It touches your heart. My humble request is he may come with another book dealing in cybercrime, digital frauds ,abuse of social media gender equality and women safety. I recommend this book for all. Those people who work in IT sector will relate to the characters and incidents definitely. The title as well as the cover which is a map of Siliconpuram are wonderful.

The short story collection made for a light reading, a sense of fear forming a base. The ones based on employees of software industry sounded authentic and hilarious. But the 10th story completely put me off since the description of the feet of a 7 month foetus sticking out of the mother's stomach (!?) was far from reality. I presume the story could have been avoided completely or written after proper research. . There were a few mistakes related to punctuation and spelling that could have been avoided. Since it is a debut work rounding off to 3 stars.

This is the collection of 12 short stories which is happening in a place called Siliconpuram( Bangalore). After reading the author’s debut novel ” Semmaari” , i felt little disappointed after reading this short story collection as this book being the author’s first book. But accepting the fact that short stories are way different from novel. Each story had a message and of course a twist at the end, which i liked very much. Author took same names and characters and played it very well. “Bahubali Thatha”, ” EliPori”, “Beachoram”, ” Thvaruthal”, “Utkaarndha Idathilirundhe” were best among the short stories. I am writing a one or two line review for each story. Bahubali thatha: Author beautifully explained the pain of a old age people through the eyes of his son. Bahubali Thatha died( lived ) a day completely with his grandson making him happy and gave a unbearable pain to his son. Elipori: How hierarchy works in a firm? , come and read this story, It was hilarious and witty at the end. Felt really sorry for Suresh. Beechoram: Human mind always love to have thrill and risk in their mind. This story showed it clearly. Family outing with little thrill will be remembered forever. Naanayam: The people whom we seem to avoid or neglect need not be a bad person, it’s our ignorance. We never listen to the people whom we decided to avoid in our mind. This story is perfect example what we lose if we don’t listen them. Thavaruthal: Never judge a stranger with one situation or incident. That situation might have a different perspective at the end. Mudhal Sawaari: These men are crazy about car and bikes, so be careful with them. They might leave you behind on a busy road. Hilarious story among the other stories. Naan Avanillai: Are you going for an interview to other firm? Just make sure that your seniors are applying for that so that you could go for an interview without the fear of being caught even though you don’t get to select. Pinju Manam: The kids teach us a lot than anyone else could do for us.Open your heart to learn from them that being proud of them. Utkaarndha Idathilirundhe: Beware google is watching you. You are never invisible if you are a part of social network. The end was very funny indeed. Peedhi: This is the only story which i didn’t like that much. Could’ve have narrated in better way. Marakka Mudiyavillai: Never insult or blame a person for the mistakes, that might not be their mistake at all. Guit will ruin you forever Adikkarumbu: Family union could be sometimes way too funny. It’s purely rely upon how you take that situation in your mind. Again an hilarious story from the author. Overall rating: 3.5/5
